Arkansas is gonna ruin it for toddlers

Arkansas' marriage-age crisis is over. A law that mistakenly allowed anyone - even toddlers - to marry with parental permission was repealed by a measure signed into law Wednesday by Gov. Mike Beebe, ending months of embarrassment for the state and confusion for county clerks.
Ok, what country would allow children to get married?
Well I guess that's how you do it over there.
And what person would allow their toddler to get married?!?!
Lawmakers didn't realize until after the end of last year's regular session that a law they approved, intended to establish 18 as the minimum age for marriage, instead removed the minimum age to marry entirely. An extraneous "not" in the bill allowed anyone who was not pregnant to marry at any age with permission.
So what happens if you are pregnant? Huh?
I am guessing there are different rules for them...
The bill read: "In order for a person who is younger than eighteen (18) years of age and who is not pregnant to obtain a marriage license, the person must provide the county clerk with evidence of parental consent to the marriage."
Well, it is always nice for the parents to know about the marriage.
Otherwise, there would not be a single person in this country.
And once again, what is with the not pregnant part??
Don't they at least get to hear what their rules and regulations are?
Some lawmakers called for a special session last year, saying the error would make it easy for pedophiles to take advantage of the law. Gov. Mike Beebe said he didn't see any imminent crisis and said the chances of children marrying under the law were slim.
Okay, call me crazy, but wouldn't a girl be able to figure out if a guy is a perv?
And if she can figure it out, then why would she continue with the marriage?
And wouldn't she tell her parents about the situation!
Legislators, however, had the chance for a do-over this week when Beebe convened a special session to consider a hike in the state's severance tax on natural gas. They repealed the botched law, and reinstated 17 as the minimum age to marry for boys and 16 for girls.
Um...why can't they use the same age for both?
I know it sounds crazy, but it makes things easier. Just use 18 or something.
You don't have to make it different.
And what is the point of the different ages??
Rep. Will Bond, the sponsor of the botched 2007 law and its correction, apologized for the error and asked his colleagues to "throw me a rope and bail me out here."
No. Don't throw him a rope. Don't bail him out.
He screwed up and he is going to pay for it.
If anything, they should point and laugh at him and humiliate him like he has never been before.
"I always thought if you put your name on a bill, you should be ready to take the blame if you're willing to accept the credit," Bond said Wednesday.
There you go. He should just take it in.
He should be ready for this kind of trash to happen when he messes up.
He just isn't fit for the position. What a loser.
Bond, a Democrat, said there hadn't been any reports of young children attempting to marry under the 2007 law.
Probably because none of them really wanted to get married.
This just goes to show that America is full of crazy people. And we should all move to Canada. Eh? I mean seriousely, nothing bad or wierd ever happens in Canada. They are the only country that can really hold it together. In Great Britain you have Heather Mills, ugh. In Mexico, you have cool stuff and drugs, great for spring break! In Ireland, you have young children asking demolition companies to "make their school go boom". Something tells me that is not where the best stuff is...And lets face it with Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Asia is full of sweatshops. Africa is having problems with lack of food and supplies for living. And the Middle East is going to be the first to crack. They have the oil, but they are so pressured about it. You have the american troops taking over their world, which was okay at first because they had to overthrow an evil ruler. But now they are going to far. They have pushed those countries to the edge and whether or not we keep the troops there, those countries are going to go crazy and just bomb everyone. They will destroy all people. Just wait.
Not to say anything bad about the Middle East. I am mostly going to poke the issue at the american soldiers. They are put into brutal situations. And they make life really hard for people there. They have brought hope, the only good thing really. But forcing those countries to use the "american democracy" will not help them in any way. Look at the american democracy. Totally botched! And it needs to get fixed like pronto! Oh, right, my bad. Bush doesn't care about what we need. He does what he wants and gives to the rich people who already have everything. And then, those of us in the middle class, hope for some of those advantages and such to trickle down to us. Which they never do...not to say anything bad about Bush (cough) (cough). Bush sucks and we need to improve our own country if we hope to help other countries.
This has been another uselsess rant. You gotta love it!
